Recount text adalah jenis teks yang berisi tentang pengalaman/peristiwa yang telah terjadi di masa lampau. Biasanya peristiwa tersebut diceritakan kembali berdasarkan urutan waktu yang jelas (chronological order). Tujuan komunikatif dart teks ini adalah melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian, atau kegiatan de-ngan tujuan memberitakan atau menghibur.
B. Generic Structure of Recount Text
Struktur teks recount sebagai berikut:
- Orientation: bagian pendahuluan yang berisi informasi mengenai tokoh/benda yang terlibat, waktu, tempat, situasi, dan lain-lain.
- Event(s): rangkaian kejadian/kegiatan yang diceritakan.
- Reorientation: kesimpulan atau kejadian dart rangkaian peristiwa yang diceritakan.
C. Language Feature of Recount Text
Unsur kebahasaan teks recount sebagai berikut:
- Penggunaan nouns dan pronouns sebagai kata ganti orang, benda, atau hewan yang terlibat. Misal: tsunami, it, Jenita, dan lain-lain.
- Penggunaan action verbs atau kata kerja tindakan. Misal: walk, close, dan lain-lain.
- Penggunaan past tense atau kata kerja bentuk lampau (S+V2). Misal: I went to Gembira Loka Zoo.
- Penggunaan conjunction atau time connectives yang mengurutkan peristiwa yang diceritakan. Misal: before, after that, then, dan lain-lain.
